Madison's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
I have created a team of committed friends and family to partner with me on this journey. Together, we have set a fundraising goal of $65,000! The money raised helps LLS, the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers, fund research to advance lifesaving treatments, drive advocacy for policies that protect patient access to these treatments, and provide patients and families with hope, guidance, education and support. Our candidate team is particularly passionate about ADVOCACY and will be representing this area of LLS during my campaign.
Advocacy is important to me so there is access to policies that will support traditional and holistic healthcare options and financial support for patients and their families.
I am participating in the 2023 Student Visionary of the Year campaign and want to tell you a little about why I got involved in this amazing organization.
In August of 2018, when I was 13 years old, both of my parents were killed in an accident. As you can imagine this is something that is really hard to wrap your head around. I decided, pretty much right away, that I could handle it one of two ways. I could be mad at the world or I could decide to move forward, embrace life, and live through their love. Luckily for me, I have a wonderful supportive family and my Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Larry took my brother and I in as their own.
My aunt is a colon cancer survivor. She was diagnosed when I was very little, but I remember it well. Ever since her long and hard battle, she has been extremely involved in raising money for Ccncer research. Since I have been living with her, she herself got involved with the LLS. She was a former Woman of the Year candidate, and I helped her with her fundraising back in 2020. I see her passion for fighting cancer and I decided that this was a challenge that I also wanted to take on. I also know one of the kids at my school who is currently battling blood cancer and I don’t want any kids to have to go through that battle. LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
We all have our own battles to fight and I feel like this one is a really worthy cause and I am asking for your support. With all being said, we need your help to spread the word, start a conversation, and find a cure for cancer!
Madison's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
